Repurposed bicycle tire Keychains: DonkeySold Out
Handcrafted by volunteers at AERU, the African Elephant Research Unit in the Garden Route, Western Cape, South Africa. While the volunteers main purpose is to follow a high functioning captive herd of elephant, and record behavioural data for research and welfare, in their off time from the field, they help create items that AERU can sell to raise money for the research program.
All of the proceeds AERU receives from each purchase are donated directly back into their program.
The rubber to make the keychains is re-purposed bicycle tire tubes sourced from bike shops in Knysna. Each keychain has slightly different coloured and styled beads
- Keychains are handmade and variations are common
- No two keychains are alike, so bead variations are unique to each one.
- Metal Keyrings have been upcycled and donated; while they work fine, some have degradation has occurred, as is seen in the images.
