Dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of orphaned baby elephants back into the wild, the Elephant Orphan Project operates both the Lilayi Nursery just outside Lusaka for the smaller milk dependent orphans, and the Kafue Release Facility in Kafue National Park, the second phase of release where the babies slowly gain independence and confidence to return to the wild.

Human contact with the elephants is minimal and limited to keepers and support staff when and where necessary.  The Lilayi nursery welcomes visitors daily, but for the health and long term success of the release program, guests observe the elephants from a fantastic viewing platform located above the camp.

Rescue, rehabilitation and release of orphaned elephants requires years of commitment, dedication and a great deal of money.

Game Rangers is a well respected multi dimensional organization involving not only the elephant orphan project, but also anti-poaching, community outreach and conservation support.
