Creating art from pedestrian and often overlooked materials seems to be a skill belonging to so many artisans throughout Africa, and for the team at Professional Wireworks, wire is their material of choice.
This awesome dachshund is the first piece of wire art Pedro ever created way back in 2000. While Pedro admits, this is a vast improvement over his first try, it continues to be one of his most popular pieces.
Like all of their wire art pieces, this little guy is made of wire twisted and manipulated entirely by hand by Professor Pedro and his team of artisans at Professional Wireworks in the northern suburb of Dunoon in Cape Town.
The process of making art by twisting wire is quite difficult and requires strong hands, which is perhaps one of the reasons why wire art artisans are often men

Material: Galvanized Steel Wire either raw or powder coated
Origin: South Africa
Pieces are not recommended for outdoor use or use in excessively damp or moist environments, as any exposed wire will rust, unless of course rusted wire is a patina you are happy with.
